The Fitzroy Inn was opened in 1836 and still to this day, holds so much history and original architecture - It’s old world meets new charm. Entrance to the Fitzroy Inn has a long driveway, surrounded by luscious gardens. Entry way into the reception is at the front of the Inn, up a flight of stairs, to the right.

The Superior rooms are immersed in the history of the Inn. Entering the rooms, you will see a light filled, sunlit room with original architecture and structure. Once you’re in the room, the ensuite is sophisticated and classic.

Moving further into the room, you find a study desk underneath a sunlit window. Magazines are positioned on the desk if you wanted to have a read, and there’s a tea and coffee station with biscuits. Amenities such as an ironing board, iron and hangers are found in the wardrobe. There’s plenty of space in there to leave your clothing. The beds are a queen size with a beautiful timber frame and white linen. The light coloured tones in the room make it peaceful and calm. Soft noises from the occasional train can be heard which put you back in time. If you look out your room window you will have views of the tree covered mountain as well as the beautiful entrance of the Fitzroy Inn.

Once you’ve settled in your room, come and sit in one of our three classic lounge rooms, each with an open fireplace and comfy lounges to sit on.

We have a library, billiard table and beautiful seating outside on our paved deck for you to enjoy. The Dining Room is open most Friday and Saturday nights and a continental breakfast is available for all bookings. There are 5-acres of grounds to explore including the first tennis court built in Australia if you wanted to enjoy a game and learn about the wonderful history of the Fitzroy Inn with a guided history walk tour.

The underground dungeon is something to experience – with original structure and architecture to admire. It’s also been nominated as the best example of an early Australian kitchen.
